Keith Walker, a homeless man of 53 years old, has been hailed a hero for saving the lives of ten cats and six dogs. When the heroic man saw flames rising from W-Underdogs, an animal sanctuary in Atlanta, Georgia, he didn’t hesitate to risk his life to save the helpless animals. Because of his bravery, all of the animals trapped inside the blazing shelter were rescued and survived.

“I was nervous, I’m not going to lie,” Keith told CNN. “I was terrified to enter with all that smoke. But God put me there to help those animals.”

Keith, who has been homeless since he was 13, is accompanied by a pit bull named Bravo. When the fire broke out, he was on his way to the shelter to pick up his puppy. Keith knows Gracie Hamlin, the owner of the shelter, because she lets him leave Bravo there every night.

“If you love a dog, you can love anyone in the world,” the brave man stated. “My dog is my best friend, and I wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t here, so I knew I had to help all those other dogs.”

Gracie was overjoyed to learn that all of the animals at the shelter were safe thanks to Keith’s bravery. “He is my guardian angel,” she told CNN. “He was removing the cats and dogs until everyone was safe. I am grateful to him for protecting my animals. I’m still taken aback because I’ve been in the vicinity of fires before and know how quickly they can erupt. To me, he is a hero.”
Fortunately, the shelter was only a few days away from relocating the animals, and all of the rescued animals had been transferred!
